  • You must bring a photo ID to the exam.

  • If you enter your zPass incorrectly too many times UNSW can lock your UNSW account

You can unlock your UNSW account in the UNSW Identity Manager

  • It is a good idea to check that you can log in to CSE Vlab before the exam, as this can only be done if your account is unlocked.

  • If you are particularly worried about your account you could also unlock your UNSW account in the UNSW Identity Manager before the exam, just to be safe.

On exam day

  • As an international student, I sometimes struggle to understand the meanings of all the words in the questions. Therefore, during my daily practice before, I occasionally used dictionaries or translation apps. So I wonder is it permissible to bring a dictionary or use translation apps during exams?

Yes, you can bring a language to english dictionary to the exam.  It will need to be inspected to ensure there is no other writing in it before you take it in.

  • I have not received an email regarding the final exam time and location,  could you please send an email containing the details.

You will find your allocation here when it is available. Not all course allocations are released at the same time.

  • I am unsure if I missed information regarding the time and location of the final exam, but I cannot find anything stating this. I was just wondering if any information will be posted.

Send your query with zID and Course code to exam@cse.unsw.edu.au.

  • I'd like to enquire if it's possible to shift my exam to a different date as I have a clash with another exam on the same day at a different time. As such the overload and stress of both these exams on the same day is quite significant.

Unfortunately we cannot change your exam date.

Unless you have a special provision, UNSW expects students to be available for two exams on the same day, so we cannot offer an alternative exam because of this reason.

  • At the entry time you should be ready to enter the exam room. Exam will start after few minutes.

  • I wanted to ask about switching the mouse click (so I can use it left handed) during my exam. Would this be possible?

Yes, you can swap left and right mouse buttons during the exam. There will be options in the right click menu to allow this.

Miscellaneous Questions

  • I am confused about my exam location and time for the COMP1511 exam. On myUNSW, it asks me to consult the school and shows two COMP1511 exams. Please clarify.

The exam is held in the CSE labs. There is more than 1 exam session given the large student cohort. But students only need to attend ONE session.

  • I can't log in to the final exam website. I logged in with the password I used to log in to the school. It showed that the password was wrong. As a result, I can’t find tomorrow’s exam timetable. What should I do?

Please visit http://iam.unsw.edu.au and reset your password, then wait 10 minutes and attempt to login to the website again.

  • I have misplaced my student ID card. What are alternate acceptable IDs for the exams?

A valid passport or driver's licence is acceptable ID. If you do not have valid ID at the exam, you will be directed to the Help Desk at the end of you exam. You will be sent notification to provide a valid photo ID. If not no valid photo ID is provided your exam results will be invalid.

  • Could my exam session time be changed?

We will not change sessions without a compelling reason (eg - clash with other exam). Afternoon sessions are usually full so we are sometimes unable to change sessions even if there is a good reason.
